Chapter 6-10

I cannot believe summer is almost over! With the start of the new school year right around the corner our calendars will be filling up quick. In order to wrap up this book study, the following questions apply to chapters six through ten.

1. How do you see a leadership theme at SES integrating with our existing campus or district initiatives?

2. How would you bring an OBT on board?

3. Based on the list on pg. 186 titled, “Why Change Efforts Fail,” what do you consider to be key ingredients necessary to implement a theme of leadership at SES?

4. If we consider this book study to be our “Strategic Pause,” reflect and determine if you are moved to change? Does adopting a theme of leadership at SES fit?

5. Stephen Covey refers to AB Combs principal, Muriel Summers, as a modern-day miracle. What leader has inspired you either professionally or personally?

  1. I just got back from Florida and I am getting caught up with our blog.
I love the idea of our school adopting a leadership theme. I'd like to see it woked into our assemblies and have our scholars model what a leadership role should look like. Second graders do a lot of modeling at the beginning of the year with the Daily 5 so modeling what a leader does would fit in nicely.

  3. Aaghhh Susan! I can't believe you actually saw the 212 degree movie the other day, it was only posted for about 45 minutes. A funny story...I had tried for quite some time to post the movie on the side, but couldn't figure out how to expand the dimensions of the "side-bar" without messing up the rest of the blog, when I finally solved the problem by changing the dimensions of the movie I posted it. Feeling proud of myself, I showed my husband. He watched the 3 minute movie and then pointed out the completely inappropriate parody that it was also linked to in youtube. I was so frustrated with the whole thing I took it off and gave up. But, since you asked I have tried again and I think I've solved the problem:) Just for you Susan!!!!

  5. Thanks, Shawn. I so do appreciate you putting it back on our blogspot. I know you worked hard and once everyone sees it they will be grateful too. It is so worth watching and more than once. I don't remember seeing anything else or anything inappropriate when I viewed it the first time. I was overwhelmed with the message that I just sat there in awe trying to digest it all. Aren't we lucky to be in a profession that actually lets us grow and improve and think?
